Starting Line 1928 Social Media Intern

 

Starting Line 1928 is looking for a social media intern for Spring 2023 The ideal candidate is a social media savvy, self-motivated, women’s sport enthusiast who will grow our community. This can be remote and we can make Zoom work!

Starting Line 1928 is an oral history project set out to document the stories of the pioneers of women’s distance running in their own voices. With the help of freelance historians, we collect oral histories. The Starting Line 1928 intern will aid in sharing these stories to a larger audience.  This is a for credit internship and can count towards class credit.

Responsibilities: You will report directly to Cara Hawkins Jedlicka, scholarly assistant professor in the Murrow College of Communication. You will support our leadership team is social media management and content creation. You will provide input on the social media strategy and will become an integral part of the team.

Duties include:

  • Monitoring and managing social media accounts for Twitter and Instagram

  • Managing and running the @Startingline1928/@Startline1928 social accounts

  • Creating online posts including visual content using Adobe Creative Cloud products and Canva

  • Capturing video and photo content for online posting

  • Developing a newsletter for the podcast

  • Responding to online social media posts

  • Tracking and analyzing data from campaigns

  • Assisting in strategic planning

Appointment and hours: It is expected that you will start work Spring 2023 semester, beginning the first or second week of the semester, and ending the week before the semester ends. You will work about 10 hours per week. We could discuss extending through Summer 2023.

Skills required:

  • Experience using various types of social media including: Twitter, TikTok and  Instagram

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience producing photo and video content
